Many PDMPs require prescribers and dispensers to enroll with and/or query the PDMP. In many instances, PDMPs have very specific circumstances or conditions as to when enrollment is required or when a query should be performed.
To better understand the mandatory enrollment and usage conditions by state, visit TTAC’s Mandated Enrollment and Usage page. |
The Mandatory Use Module is a fully configurable and highly interactive compliance reporting module that allows authorized users the ability to view a prescriber’s compliance with PDMP specific requirements to query a patient’s prescription history prior to writing certain prescriptions. With this module, PDMPs will be able to identify users, or groups of users, with the lowest rates of compliance, view compliance rates for individual users, see the history of non-compliant searches for each prescriber and view specific patient and prescription details.
Furthermore, a prescriber-facing version of the Mandatory Use Module can be made available in AWARxE. This report would be generated based on the user’s Personal DEA in their user profile. In doing so, users would only see prescription and search activity associated with their own DEA. The report will contain the same output as the PDMP Administrator’s Mandatory Use Module reporting for the individual prescribers, with fields configurable by the Admin to reflect any PDMP-specific rules or exceptions.

Exemptions to Reviewing
Prescribers may be exempt from reviewing prescription history. However, this function does not allow filtering by specialties that may be exempt from reviewing or practice locations that also allow exemptions.
Pharmacists are not required to review, because they do not hold DEA registration numbers. Therefore, this functionality is not available to pharmacists. |
