Over 100,000 people died of drug overdoses in the United States in 2022. Medications, such as Naloxone, can block opioid receptors and prevent life-threatening symptoms of an opioid overdose such as respiratory and cardiac distress.
Since opioid overdose reversal medications, such as Naloxone, are so effective at counteracting opioid effects, they are often considered a life-saving medication for patients in the midst of an opioid overdose. Due to this, the CDC recommends and some PDMPs may even require that healthcare professionals offer or co-prescribe an opioid reversal drug to patients who meet very specific criteria established by the state PDMP or as recommended by the CDC.
Healthcare providers may have limited time with patients. Therefore, it can be challenging to thoroughly review a patient’s dispensation history to determine if they meet the criteria for offering or co-prescribing an overdose reversal medication as recommended by the CDC or as required by the applicable PDMP.
Co-Rx Clarity identifies patients who meet or exceed CDC-recommended or PDMP-defined criteria for opioid overdose reversal medication, presenting a clear indicator directly in the provider’s workflow. This removes subjective judgment from overdose risk assessment and ensures consistent, equitable identification of patients who may benefit from opioid overdose reversal medication. By embedding this indicatir at the point of care, Co-Rx Clarity supports proactive opioid overdose reversal medication distribution, reduces provider burden, and helps shift overdose response from reactive treatment to a more informed intervention.
This new layer of information provided by Co-Rx Clarity will display as a State Indicator on the Patient Report whether users are accessing the Patient Report via their state’s PMP AWARxE instance or Bamboo Health’s Gateway integration.
