Delegates are individuals authorized by a prescriber or a pharmacist to perform patient searches on their behalf. Since delegates have access to personal health information and are authorized to act on behalf of a prescriber or pharmacist, it's important to verify authorization on a recurring basis.
Delegate Reverification is an optional PDMP enabled enhancement that requires supervisors to review their associated delegate connections on a cadence determined by the PDMP (typically annually).
Delegate Reverification with Delegate Audit is another PDMP enabled enhancement that, when enabled, enhances the Delegate Reverification process by including requirements for supervisors to review or "audit" their associated delegate's search history for the PDMP selected audit period.
The Delegate Reverification User Experience with Delegate Audit
To review and reverify a delegate, the supervisor should login into PMP AWARxE and select Delegate Management from the Profile menu.
From the Delegate Management Dashboard, each delegate connection will have an Needs Review status indicating an audit is required. The date range for the audit period will be listed along with the deadline to complete the audit.
Click View next to the delegate's name that is being audited and review the delegate's search history.
Check the attestation box box to confirm review and click Verify Status to complete the audit. Repeat until all delegates have been audited and verified.
If any searches are suspected of being impermissible, the supervisor should immediately remove access for the delegate, which will place them in a Pending status. Furthermore, the supervisor should notify the PDMP Administrator of any impermissible searches immediately. For contact information to PDMP Administrators, please refer to the PDMP Contact Information help article. |
All delegates must be verified or audited during the time period set by the PDMP. Delegates not verified or audited during this time period will be placed in a Pending status. Delegates placed in a Pending status will not be able to complete searchers on their supervisor's behalf until they have been reverified or audited by their supervisor.
