The Death Overdose Alert enhancement allows for notifications to be sent to prescribers who have filled prescriptions for a patient when that patient has been identified in an overdose death record. This feature helps inform prescribers of critical patient outcomes and supports awareness and prevention efforts within the controlled substances ecosystem.
If enabled by PDMP administrators, notifications can display on a prescriber's Dashboard under Patient Alerts or they can be sent via email.
| For more information on Patient Alerts, please refer to the Patient Alerts Overview and Patient Alerts help articles. |
Dashboard Notifications
The Death Overdose Alert will display, if enabled, under the Patient Alerts section of the prescriber's Dashboard.
To view additional details on the patient, to include the Patient Report, click on Download PDF to display the patient's historical Patient Report.
|
For more information on components of the Patient Report, to include requesting a new Patient Report, please refer to the Navigating the Patient Report section of this help center and the Performing a Patient Request help article. For questions on specific items that may appear on the Patient Report (e.g., indicators, prescriptions, addresses, etc), please contact the PDMP directly. |
Email Notifications
| If a user receives a verification code or email that they did not initiate, they should contact the PDMP immediately. |
When this optional form of notification method is enabled by the PDMP, prescribers will receive an email notification indicating that a patient under their care is deceased due to overdose. The prescriber is directed to then log in to PMP AWARxE and access their Dashboard to view the Patient Alert.
| No patient identifying information is contained in the email notification. Prescriber's must login into PMP AWARxE to obtain information on the specific Death Overdose Alert and for which patient it pertains to. |
