| OD Insights is intended to aid, not replace, medical decision making. None of the information presented in the OD Insights indicator should be used as sole justification for providing or not providing care or medications to a patient. |
Identifying the occurrence of a non-fatal overdose (NFOD) event can be used to treat the after-effects of an overdose and to aid in the prevention of repeat overdoses. OD Insights is a solution that was developed to inform healthcare professionals of NFOD events, at the point of care, to identify potential patients who may need follow-up care and services for substance use disorder (SUD).
OD Insights ingests non-fatal overdose data and displays these events in the new tile on the Patient Report. OD Insights can be delivered alongside NarxCare. Healthcare professionals can choose to view a patient's controlled substance use history at the point of care via Patient Reports.
Each NFOD event displays the following information within the tile on the Patient Report under Other Resources:
- Admittance date and time
- Facility name
- Facility city
- ICD-10 code
- ICD-10 description
| OD Insights is intended to be used by healthcare professionals to improve care coordination and should not be used in any other way. |
OD Insights displays the data Bamboo Health is sent by the PDMP. Therefore, it is critical for healthcare professionals to review their patients' charts as they normally would and not rely on OD Insights as sole justification for medical decision making.
|
The OD Insights tile will display regardless of whether or not an NFOD event is matched to the patient searched. If an NFOD event is not matched to a patient, a message will display under Other Health Information indicating "No history of overdose reported." |
|
If enabled by the PDMP, when an OD Insights alert is activated, an email will also be sent to all providers and their delegates, if delegates are enabled to receive alerts by the PDMP, who have treated the patient in a timeframe configured by the PDMP. Email alerts are configurable by the applicable PDMP. Therefore, emails may be appear different for each PDMP. |
If enabled by the PDMP, when the OD Insights Patient Alert is activated, it will also display on authorized users' AWARxE Dashboards for a period of time as determined by the PDMP.
| The PDMP may restrict access to OD Insights to certain specific roles. For questions regarding OD Insights, role access or your role permissions, please contact the PDMP. |
