The Peer Review Module enhancement provides the PDMP with the ability to designate a peer review committee responsible for reviewing, approving, and/or rejecting Patient Report requests or prescriber reports from prescribers who are subject to evaluation, supervision, or discipline.
Members of the peer review committee may also request Patient Reports for individuals who have been treated by monitored prescribers.
Peer Review Committee
The Peer Review Module is intended for licensed pharmacists and prescribers, and their approved delegates, who have been assigned to a Peer Review Committee. Peer reviewers and their approved delegates (referred to as “reviewees”) may perform the following functions:
- Review, approve and/or deny requests for Patient Reports and Prescriber Reports from prescribers who are subject to evaluation, supervision, or discipline by the peer review committee
- Request Patient Reports for individuals who have been treated by a prescriber who is subject to evaluation, supervision, or discipline by the Peer Review Committee
Peer Reviewer/Peer Reviewee My Dashboard
For information on registering for a PMP AWARxE account, please refer to the How to Register for a PMP AWARxE Account or contact the PDMP. |
Upon logging into PMP AWARxE with an approved account, the requestor's My Dashboard will display. This dashboard provides a quick summary of pertinent items within PMP AWARxE, including PDMP Administrator announcements, recent patient searches, and, if applicable, peer reviewee's or reviewer's status.
My Dashboard can be accessed at any time by clicking Menu > Dashboard.
Recent Requests
This section displays your most recent patient searches, including those performed by one of your delegates.
- You can view the Patient Report by clicking the patient’s name.
- You can view a list of all past requests by clicking View Requests History. You can also access your request history at any time by clicking Menu > Requests History.
The Patient Report that is displayed when you click on the patient's name is a historical report, meaning that it contains the data that was viewed when the report was initially run. For instructions on how to perform a new Patient Request, please refer to the Patient Request Overview help article. |
Peer Reviewers/Reviewees
This section displays a user's peer reviewees or reviewers, depending on the user's role.
- Use this section to quickly change a reviewee’s status by clicking the reviewee’s name. Upon clicking the reviewee’s name, the Peer Review Management page will display at which point the user can approve, reject, or remove a reviewee from their profile.
A user can also access the Peer Review Management page at any time by clicking Menu > Peer Review Management.
Reports Processing
Peer reviewers will receive email notifications when requests requiring a review have been submitted. Prescriber Activity Requests submitted by peer reviewees and physicians that have been assigned to a user for review are available on the Reports Processing page located under Menu > Reports Processing.
To search for a specific request, click Advanced Options to display the search window, enter the search criteria, and click Search. |
From this page, a reviewer may review the request, view additional case details, and approve or deny the request. To do so, click the name in the Match Result column for the request to be reviewed and the request information will display below the list of requests.
Click View to generate the Prescriber Activity Report.
The Prescriber Activity Report that is displayed when you click on the patient's name is a historical report, meaning that it contains the data that was viewed when the report was initially run. Please refer to the Prescriber Activity Requests help article for additional information. |
Once the review of the report is complete, click the Back button located at the top of the page to return to the Reports Processing page. Click either the Approve or Reject button.
Clicking the Approve button will make the report available in the reviewee's or physician's Report's History section of AWARxE.
Clicking Reject will display a Rejection Reason window, where the reviewer will be able to type in their reasoning for rejecting the request. The reviewee or physician will be able to view the Reject Report under Reports History.
Reports History
Prescriber Activity Reports are available in Reports History and are located under Menu > Reports History.
- Peer reviewers can view all reports generated by reviewees and any physicians that have been assigned to them for review.
- Peer reviewees can only view their own requests.
Click the report name in the Report Type column to view approved reports;
Or
Hover over Rejected in the Status column to view the rejection reason for rejected requests.
Peer Review Management
The Peer Review Management function allows peer reviewers to approve or reject new reviewees, or remove existing reviewees from their account.
Approving and Rejecting Peer Reviewees
If a user registers as a reviewee and selects a peer reviewer, they will receive an email notification that a reviewee account is pending approval.
If the reviewer connection request is not acted upon, the system will send follow-up emails advising that action is still required. |
If an email notification is received advising of a new peer reviewee connection, log into PMP AWARxE and navigate to Menu > Peer Review Management. New reviewees are identified with a Pending status.
Click the reviewee's name to display their information in the detail card at the bottom of the page.
After reviewing the reviewee's information, click either Approve or Reject. If the user chooses to Reject the reviewee, the reviewee will be removed from their Peer Review Management page.
Removing Reviewees
If you need to remove or dissociate a reviewee from an account, navigate to Menu > Peer Review Management and click the reviewee's name to display their information in the detail card at the bottom of the page.
Click the Remove button in the top right corner to sever the relationship between the reviewer and the reviewee. Upon removal, the reviewee's status will be returned to Pending and the reviewee will be dissociated from the reviewer's account, but the reviewee will not be permanently removed from the reviewer's list.
If a reviewer needs to add the reviewee again at a later date, select the former reviewee, then click Approve to add them to their account. If a reviewer needs to completely remove a reviewee from their account, select the former reviewee, then click Reject. Rejecting a reviewee will remove them from your account. It is the responsibility of the reviewer to regularly maintain their reviewee list and remove access if it is no longer necessary. |
